South Milwaukee Middle School a dynamic and energetic place. Our students experience an enormous amount of growth - physically, emotionally, and educationally. Our staff are experts on children in this age range and we offer a wide range of social and emotional supports. SMMS has a particular focus on community service. Each year we go out into the community and other schools and give back. While we're excite about what we can do for others, we're also building a sense of ownership and belonging. Conflict is an inevitable part of life, and learning how to manage and resolve conflicts effectively is an essential skill that will benefit our children throughout their lives.
The third quarter of the year has begun at South Milwaukee Middle School and Grade 7 Art and Design students are busy exploring the work of established artists under the direction and guidance of art teacher, Ms. Nancy Laski.
Grade 8 Gallery Walk
Over the course of three days all our Grade 6 students visited the Peace Learning Center in Milwaukee. The purpose of the journey was to build a sense of belonging, teamwork and develop conflict resolution skills.

In this episode, we’re talking about one of the newest student activities in South Milwaukee – First Lego League. If you’re not aware of what it is, it’s more than bricks and Lego figures, though those are certainly part of it.
At the suggestion of a parent who wanted his daughter to be involved in some sort of robotics club, South Milwaukee Middle School started up two First Lego League teams as an after-school activity.
